2. BORDER DISPUTES: b) GENEVA PROTOCOL

Britain and France drew the Geneva Protocol which said that if two members were in dispute they would have to ask the League to sort out the disagreement and they would have to accept the Council's decision. They hoped this would strengthen the League. Before the plan could be put into effects there was a general election in Britain. The new government refused to sought the Protocol, so the Protocol, which had been meant to strengthen the League, in fact weakened it.
